Residents shocked by suspected assault

RESIDENTS have spoken of their shock after a man was found lying injured in their street last night.

A man was discovered with neck and chest injuries in Hillside, Chesham. He was found by a member of the public at 6.20pm following a suspected assault.

One resident of Hillside, who did not want to be named, had to wait outside until 9.45pm while police investigated.

He said: "I was shocked to be honest. This is normally a very quiet cul-de-sac. It's a very nice area.

"When you hear about things like that you think what's going on? But of course you have some unknown elements in the area."

He added: "This is the first incident and I hope it will be the last as well."

Another said: "I think someone phoned police after a man was found lying stabbed outside the garages."

She added: "Last night people couldn't come in or go out for about two hours and the police tape was still here this morning."

Police today continued to block off nearby Captain's Wood to members of the public.

They are appealing for information. Anyone with information can contact A/Det Sgt Hardy on 08458 505 505 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
