37-hour booze licence granted

A RESTAURANT has been granted a licence to sell alcohol for 37 consecutive hours over the New Year holiday.

The Shoko Thai Restaurant in High Street, Great Missenden, applied to Chiltern District Council to be allowed to serve alcohol and play recorded music between 10am on New Year's Eve and 11pm the following day.

This evening the council gave permission for owner Foysol Ahmed to open the restaurant for that period of time, subject to conditions being met.

These include alcohol only being sold with meals bought on the premises, customers not being allowed to leave with alcoholic drinks and for music to be played at an appropriate level.

The council did not receive any objections from residents to the licence being granted.

... Mental note to read the BFP letters page the week after new years day, me thinks there will be complaints then.

Maybe Gt Missenden isn't full of NIMBY's like most places these days. That would be refreshing.

Now, if they could get a licence for 37 hours a day drinking, that would be something.

I once saw a locum doctor's time sheet where he claimed he worked 25 hours in one day.

We could get him in as barman!
