Woman, 22, raped in Wycombe centre

She was walking along Temple End.

Simply horrifying experience for this young lady. Although why she would want to be in Temple end on her on at that time of the morning is beyond me. Doesn't in any way excuse the behaviour of this animal. I hope she recovers as well as she ever can . x

What an awful thing to happen. It's frightenening when something like this happens so close to home.

Sorry - frightening.

There is a lot of student accommodation out towards Hughenden road and Temple End seems to be an ideal pedestrian rat-run for late night revellers. So I can see why a young lady may be down that way on her own at stupid o'clock in the morning.

I have witnessed many foolish acts by youngsters in that area, vandalism, attacks on taxi drivers, intimidation of the residents etc. at all hours of the night (I enjoy a late night drink myself). I can only see this getting worse if they ever build the new halls of residence further along Hughenden road. If anyone has ever seen the queue to get in the Litten Tree at around 11 o'clock on the Tuesday student night, then you'll know how many yoofs are about in the evening.

I hope the authorities will take into account the impact of increased revellers in the area and look to improve safety for everyone.

Get some coppers on the streets.

My heart goes out to the young woman concerned. I hope she finds the courage and gets the support to put put this horrible event behind her.

Echoing BRomans comment, its never nice to think of this sort of thing 'happening on your doorstep' so to speak.

As we have tons of CCTV in the town centre he should be on there. Why isn’t there any detail of the perpetrator’s description? Doesn’t leave much to go on does it. But hopefully they have had a record and their DNA have been taken.

good post Elmo. As the mother of 2 young women - both of whom go out and socialise in Wycombe - this is a real worry. I do hope this poor girl is okay and yes - where the hell are the police?

Too busy harassing motorists by the sound of it.

The police cannot be everywhere at once. Are people suggesting that every person not at home in bed should have a police chaperone?

the police were probably tied up dealing with the irresponsible drunks, the clubs take up loads of police resources.

I wish the girl all the best and hope wycombe CID soon catch the offender

Isn't this the the second or third attack in as many weeks?

A description of the offender would help, simply saying if anyone saw anything suspicious is not good enough.

I thought exactly the same when I read the article. There is usually a description of some kind but here there is nothing to go on.

Maybe they don't have a description which is why they are hoping someone heard or saw something. Let's just hope someone knows who it is and shops them.

Made my blood run cold when I read this.

I know what you mean. Like I said - too close to home.

I'm not sure what the actual method of policing the town centre in the evening, but it appears to be to wait round the corner in the riot van so to be able to arrive mob handed if anything kicks off. This would not deter the quieter, individual criminal act just round the corner. What we could do with is random foot patrols in and around the town.

This is awful, the poor woman involved. I have walked along that stretch by myself many times to get home from a late night out. It's quite dark along there, and gets even darker the nearer you get to Hughenden Park thanks to the lights having been switched off. There's CCTV camera's just before Temple end by the vets I believe, so I would be interested to know exactly where this happened. Either way it is a horrific and disgusting act, I hope whoever did this is caught and is then castrated. I'm not being funny, but with attacks like this going on, it's hard to know what you should do. If you carry a weapon you will get nicked, if you don't carry one and something like this happens, what do you do? Was she hit over the head before being raped or what?

The police can't be everywhere at once no, but I bet there were about 5 or so of them AND a riot van in Frogmoor as they always are that time of night at the weekend.

Only if there are enough real police out there.

Yeah you cant have them everywhere, but surely they can take some out of the daytime speed vans for proper policing to try and stop this type of despicable crime.

Isnt that what most of us want?

yes it is!
