'It is not all the fault of mankind'
12:24pm Friday 18th July 2008
RE:SNOW IN 1907 (BFP July 11) UNLESS those who still follow the IPCC's crusade can satisfactorily answer last week's question posed by Anthony Weeden, we should continue to deride their persistent prattle claiming that mankind is responsible for global warming'.

Housing balance
12:22pm Friday 18th July 2008
THE article which featured on the front page of the Amersham and Chesham Free Press (July 4) was somewhat out of tune with what is actually happening in Chiltern District.

A sad development
12:20pm Friday 18th July 2008
I FEEL so sad seeing the front page today of the BFP Property Press (Planning sought for the former Harrison's site).

Cyclists are at risk
12:18pm Friday 18th July 2008
AS A motorist I endorse other letter writers' sentiments regarding our neglected road margins, but as a cyclist I am aware that their effect is much worse.

Roof needs extending

MANY things have been said about the new Eden shopping centre in the town, but on the whole most people think as I do that it is a big improvement and something we should enjoy.

Ambulances can get to Stoke Mandeville in less than 20 minutes
12:08pm Friday 11th July 2008
RE: "Councillors hit out at NHS's 17-20 minute travel time estimate between two hospitals" (Bucks Free Press print edition of June 13). YOUR report on June 13 revealed that leading councillors branded an NHS claim that emergency ambulances will take 17 to 20 minutes to travel from Wycombe to Stoke Mandeville Hospital as "amazing" and "unbelievable".

This is destroying hospital facilities
12:10pm Friday 11th July 2008
RE: The story of a five-year-old boy from Flackwell Heath who had to be driven by his parents to Stevenage after seven hospitals were unable to carry out surgery on him. I WAS shocked to read the headlines on the front of the Free Press two weeks ago, regarding the young boy and his appalling experiences and the way he was treated by our local diminishing Health Service when he broke his arm.

Potholed roads are a disgrace
12:13pm Friday 11th July 2008
RE: The letter last week from motorist Derek Dickenson who complained a pothole had caused his car £530 damage, which the county council had refused to compensate him for. Mr Dickenson said the roads in Bucks were the worst he had seen in 35 years. I AGREE wholeheartedly with Derek Dickenson who should issue a summons.

Roads are the worst I've seen in 35 years
2:17pm Friday 4th July 2008
HAVING driven over a pothole' in Penn Bottom back in February and suffered a cracked wheel rim and burst tyre which cost me £530, I naively thought I might receive some compensation from the relevant authority.
